In my personal experience, almost no one knows what perspective is. Someone knows what a vanishing point is, someone understands how to find the horizon line, or even how to construct a convincing three-dimensional cube on a flat sheet. But this is not perspective - these are just some of the tools that allow us to express it. Perspective itself is something completely different, and believe me, it's an incredibly interesting topic. I can talk about perspective for hours, I've been studying it all my life, and I'm still discovering something new about it every so often.
